Heritage Boat Trip – Terms & Conditions
1. Your Booking
1.1 Your Boat Trip Ticket is valid only for the specific trip, date, and departure time selected at the time of purchase.
1.2 Tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable except where required by law or permitted under these Terms & Conditions.
1.3 It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure all booking information is entered correctly. A booking confirmation will be sent by email and must be checked for accuracy.
2. Arrival and Boarding
2.1 Passengers must arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Trips depart promptly and late arrivals cannot be accommodated or refunded.
2.2 You must present a valid Ticket or digital confirmation to board.
2.3 Portsmouth Historic Quarter reserves the right to refuse boarding for safety or operational reasons.
3. Children and Vulnerable Passengers
3.1 Where children are permitted to board, children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
3.2 Infants and young children must always be supervised while on the pontoon and on board.
3.3 Please inform us in advance if you require assistance for passengers with mobility, medical, or accessibility needs.
4. Accessibility
4.1 Boarding may involve steps, uneven surfaces, or movement of the vessel.
4.2 Wheelchair or reduced-mobility access may be limited depending on the vessel and tidal conditions.
4.3 Passengers are encouraged to contact Portsmouth Historic Quarter via [email protected] prior to booking to discuss individual requirements.
5. Safety On Board
5.1 All passengers must always follow instructions from the Skipper and crew. Failure to comply may result in removal from the vessel without refund.
5.2 The Skipper has full authority over the vessel, including route changes or the termination of a trip in the interest of safety or due to operational constraints.
5.3 Lifejackets or buoyancy aids may be required for certain trips, and the crew may instruct passengers to remain seated during particular manoeuvres.
5.4 Smoking and vaping are not permitted on any vessel.
6. Behaviour and Alcohol
6.1 Passengers who appear intoxicated, behave in a disruptive manner, or are under the influence of drugs will not be permitted to board.
6.2 No alcohol may be brought on board.
6.3 Portsmouth Historic Quarter reserves the right to remove any passenger whose behaviour compromises safety or enjoyment.
7. Personal Belongings
7.1 All personal belongings are carried at the owner’s risk.
7.2 Portsmouth Historic Quarter accepts no liability for loss, damage, or theft of any personal items, luggage, or equipment while in Boathouse 4, on the pontoon or on board.
8. Weather, Tides, and Operational Conditions
8.1 Trips may operate in light rain or variable weather.
8.2 Where adverse weather, tidal conditions, mechanical issues, harbour authority instructions, or other safety considerations require cancellation, Portsmouth Historic Quarter will offer:
- A transfer to another available date, or
- A full refund.
8.3 The Skipper may alter the planned route, shorten the journey, delay departure, or return to port early for safety reasons. These actions do not qualify for compensation.
9. Customer Cancellations

9.2 Requests for changes will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Supporting evidence may be requested.
9.3 While tickets are generally non-refundable, statutory consumer rights apply.
10. Liability
10.1 Portsmouth Historic Quarter’s vessels are licensed to MCA standards.
10.2 To the extent permitted by law, Portsmouth Historic Quarter is not liable for:
- consequential or indirect losses
- travel, accommodation, or other associated costs
- delays caused by events outside our control
10.3 Nothing in these Terms limits liability for injury or loss arising from the Portsmouth Historic Quarter’s negligence.
11. Force Majeure
11.1 Portsmouth Historic Quarter accepts no responsibility for cancellations, delays, or amendments caused by events outside its reasonable control, including extreme weather, harbour closures, industrial action, accidents, or emergency service activity.
12. Data Protection
12.1 Personal data collected during booking is used solely for administering your trip and contacting you about your booking. You can opt in to marketing updates.
12.2 Data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, available on our website.
13. Acceptance of Terms
13.1 By completing your booking, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.
